About the Director
Born in Canton, Ohio, Adam Herman is a 2001 graduate of Perry High School in Massillon. He later went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (magna cum laude) in 2005 from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
Herman began his career of public service in 2002 as the Assistant Director of Forensics at Perry High School, where he coached competitive high school policy debate for three years. Upon his graduation from Kent State in 2005, Herman worked in the Statehouse as a Legislative Aide during the Mayor's first and second terms as Canton's own 52nd District State Representative.
He was later appointed to the House Minority Leadership staff by House Democratic Leader Joyce Beatty (D-Columbus), serving as the Assistant Communications Director for the 46-member Ohio House Democratic Caucus.
Following the Mayor's election in November 2007, Herman returned to Canton to accept an appointment as the Mayor's Communications Director and spokesperson. His job duties include interacting with the news media on behalf of the Mayor and his administration, managing marketing/advertising for the City, overseeing the technology infrastructure of City government, and advising the Mayor on policy, public relations, and constituent outreach issues. He lives in the City of Canton.
