(a) If the City of Canton is under Level 3 snow conditions as defined by the Stark County Sheriff or Blizzard warnings as defined by the National Weather Service and City Departments and Offices under the Mayor’s authority are closed, employees are not required to report to work and are not required to use compensatory, personal time, vacation time or leave without pay.
(b) If a person lives or travels from a City/County that is under Level 3 snow conditions or Blizzard warnings, but the City of Canton is not under a Level 3 snow conditions or Blizzard warnings, then that employee is required to take personal, vacation or compensatory time or leave without pay if s/he chooses not to report to work. Details of these arrangements are to be determined at the discretion of the Department Head and/or immediate supervisor.
Section 2. Level 1 & 2
(a) Employees are encouraged to use their best judgment in deciding to report to work in Level 1 or Level 2 snow conditions as defined by the Stark County Sheriff. If the City of Canton is open and an employee does not report to work, then that employee must report off work and use compensatory, personal or vacation time or leave without pay.
Section 3. During the Workday
(a) In the event of any severe weather conditions occur during the workday, after employees report to work, employees may be released from work at the discretion of the Department Head. If an employee is released from work, s/he may be required to use compensatory, personal or vacation time or leave without pay.
